The Musicians Benevolent Fund is the music business's own charity - the largest in the UK. They provide help and support to musicians and their dependants and also to those in related occupations when illness, accident or old age bring stress or financial burdens.

Each year they print hundreds of thousands of Christmas cards in order to raise funds for their charitable cause. Their previous offer of overprinting to add names, and address etc. demanded an accurate assessment of the numbers of blank cards for each design. A miscalculation of the popularity of a card meant that either orders where rejected due to lack of stock, or cards were left over.
