F E Burman celebrates its 50th birthday with FSC & PEFC Accreditation

Print, mailing and digital media pioneer FE Burman has acheived both FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forect Certification Schemes) certifications. That makes FE Burman one of a few printers in the UK capable of supplying print accredited by both schemes. "This is going a long way to expand our existing environmental credentials," explains FE Burman's Technical Director Andy Psarianos. "Consumers are more aware of environmental issues and being able to prove that the paper used comes from credible and sustainable sources is increasingly important to them. Being able to trace the fibre used to make the paper, right down to a well-managed forest, goes a long way towards printing responsibly."

About FE Burman's responsible printing strategy
FE Burman helps its clients print responsibly by offering both waterless offest and digital printing.
The waterless offset process is kinder to the environment because it eliminates fountain solutions and reduces the emission of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). In addition FE Burman uses ablative plates on their waterless offset presses which require no chemical processing. The presses run up to colur in just a few sheets, dramatically reducing paper wastage because of their revolutionary inking system.

Digital printing has the added benefits of using no printing plates and little to no make-ready time, which means the first sheet off is normally a useable sheet. Each impression can be completely different. This in turn means that we control the print-run by either using it for variable print data (customising jobs for the end-user and therefore decreasing the amount that needs to be printed) or in printing collated, which reduces production steps and wastage.
