Print production uses energy and resources but at F E Burman we focus on minimising that usage by supplying alternatives to conventional approaches.

Waste reduction
We offer our clients solutions that supply communication success while printing less. We offer cleaner processes that help reduce waste and use friendlier materials such as post–consumer recycled and FSC certified papers. Making these solutions readily available assists you in printing more responsibly.
Working practices
At F E Burman we produce and fulfil in an electronic, networked environment. We communicate with our clients via the internet or other networked solutions enabling them to view and approve artwork electronically. This significantly reduces the usage of materials to transfer content (paper, CDs DVDs, proofing materials, packaging material) and the emissions used to deliver the content (post, bike, courier, taxi).
Dry-offset printing
F E Burman’s two KBA 74 Karat presses use the waterless offset process. This eliminates fountain solutions and reduces the emission of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) by the use of ablative plates that require no chemical processing and require very few sheets to reach optimal colour and registration thus dramatically reducing paper wastage.
Digital printing
Digital printing benefits from not using plates, almost zero paper wastage and the ability to print to exact required capacity, all of which reduce the environmental impact.
Recycling and waste management
Paper, printing plates and chemicals are recycled under strict conditions. Computer equipment and office machines are recycled by licensed decommissioners.
Carbon smart blue award
We have demonstrated our commitment to the environment by measuring our carbon emissions and putting in place an action plan and policy to reduce our impact. We have achieved the Carbon Smart Blue award.
Being Carbon Smart means taking an intelligent and flexible approach to reducing our carbon footprint. Carbon Smart status certifies the practical actions we are taking to actively reduce our environmental impact. It clearly demonstrates our commitment to customers, staff and suppliers.
